The Western community the latest community to arrive in Koh Kaew. As with many villages in in Phuket the Western communities have developed since tourism. The affordable lifestyle in Phuket compared to Bangkok, Europe, Hong Kong and Singapore, makes Koh Kaew a play ground for the who have the resources to enjoy it.

Work. Work is divided amongst those who work in Phuket, and those who work abroad. Many who work in Phuket are working within the travel industry for example, 5 star hotels on the west coast of Phuket, food and service suppliers, travel services, marine services. There is also a growing number of westerners in the construction and home improvement industry.

Those who work out side Thailand commute via the very handy Phuket International Airport only 18 minutes away.

Churches. The predominantly Catholic churches have English speaking services at The Dusit Laguna Resort in Bang Tao and in Phuket Town.

Food. Places like the Watermark and the Bakery in the Boat Lagoon, and Flintstones bakery at Dulwich International College are the predominant western food outlets.

Play. Westerners enjoy many pastimes here on paradise island. Boating, sailing, diving, snorkelling, football at Dulwich International College,
